Sex assault man walks free
A MAN who sexually assaulted a young mum while she was visiting his home to borrow videos for her children to watch has walked free from court.
Peter Glen Pianta rubbed the woman's buttocks, laid her on the floor, pulled one of her breasts out of her shirt and squeezed it during the attack.
The Stanthorpe District Court yesterday heard the woman and her children went to the 50-year-old's house on the afternoon of February 20.
While the children were looking for videos to borrow, the Wallangarra man showed the woman some photos and began to rub her buttocks and squeeze them.
Crown prosecutor Russell Hood said the then 20-year-old woman "felt uncomfortable" at that point, but did not say anything.
Things progressed moments later when Pianta grabbed the woman's singlet top, under which she was not wearing a bra, and pulled it forward to reveal her breasts.
The woman attempted to go and retrieve her children, but the man persisted.
Mr Hood said Pianta then grabbed the woman and laid her on the ground, "pulled her breast out of her top and squeezed it".
The victim said "no" and told Pianta to get off her.
As she made a dash to the door, Pianta made a derogatory comment about the woman's breasts, encouraged her to show them to him and "stroked" them.
The woman went home in tears and revealed the assault to her partner.
Mr Hood told the court the woman has suffered "significant emotional and financial impacts" as a result of the man's actions.
Pianta yesterday pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
He was sentenced to six months jail, which was wholly suspended, allowing him to walk free from court.
