Shane on way to being pro boxer

UP-and-coming Warwick boxer Shane “Hurricane” Parry is well on the way to reaching his goal of being a professional boxer.

On Saturday night in the coastal township of Island Sands near Gladstone a large boxing tournament between many of Queensland’s leading boxers was held.

Taking part in this promotion was Warwick boxer Shane “Hurricane” Parry who defeated his experienced opponent, Kenyan-born Kuan Kutah on points after a hard-fought bout.

Parry’s next planned bout will be for the Golden Gloves title to be held in Toowoomba in August. If they 17-year-old boxer is successful in the Toowoomba titles, negotiations are already in progress to match him to fight for the Australian title at the Warwick RSL in October.

Combatants from the Warwick Boxing Club have the enviable record so far this year of 12 wins from 13 bouts.

Warwick is once more becoming a recognised leading force in amateur boxing.
