Shark reported as surfers take to dirty waters

WATER police were called to the Coffs Harbour boat ramp following a report of a large shark sighted in the outer harbour earlier this afternoon.

All surfers in the area were evacuated by water police at around 12.30pm before crews conducted a search for the shark.

Police patrolled the area for about 45 minutes. No shark was sighted.

Water police have strengthened their calls to avoid swimming and surfing in the dirty water and dangerous conditions.
