Sharman is one to watch

BRODIE Sharman is one of the trump cards for the Allora and Killarney State Schools A-grade rugby league team which does battle with Stanthorpe High School in Wednesday’s Broncos Cup grand final at Suburbs at 4.15pm.

The cup competitions in rugby league and netball cater for students in years 8-10.

Allora/Killarney has been unbeaten all season in A grade rugby league.

Their closest game was a two-point victory against Goondiwindi High in the final round of the competition in early May.

Sharman, who plays centre and has been the leading try scorer for the minor premiers.

Killarney student Tristan Haylock is his centre partner and both have created problems for opposition defences all season.

Tom Henry and Brodie Frizzell are the Allora/Killarney halves and create plenty of opportunities for their outside backs.

In the forwards, hard-running pair Nick Morris and Tom Higgins do much of the hard running for the side.

Stanthorpe qualified for the A-grade final with a one-point victory against Goondiwindi High and two-point victory against Warwick High.

In B grade, Goondiwindi High only lost one game to lead the competition and play Warwick High in the grand final at 3.10pm.

Organiser P.J. Hirche, of Allora State School, said the competition this year was of a high standard.

“The cup competition is the only rugby league for some of the players,” Hirche said.
