Shayne is warrior after star showing for the Wolves

SHAYNE Watson is the Weekend Warrior after a strong performance in the Warwick Wolves 4-1 premier loss to Gatton in round 1 of Toowoomba football at Gatton on Saturday night.

Watson is in his third season for the Wolves and was centre back.

Coach Jon Pearson said his team lost two players with red cards in the first half so played the final 45 minutes with nine.

"Our two were unlucky to be red carded but players like Shayne and Cameron Davey worked well together in the backline. We had a squad of 14 at the premier game,” Pearson said.

"We had a couple of players with cricket commitments last weekend and expect to have a bigger squad for the game against Willowburn on Sunday at Willowburn.”

In reserves, Warwick went down 2-0 on Saturday night with Jake Doro the best for the visiting team.

Pearson is keen to see a large turnout at Warwick Wolves training at 6.30pm each Tuesday and Thursday at Queens Park.
