POLOCROSSE: Queensland will play New South Wales at 2pm today in the senior men’s final in the Polocrosse Nationals at Albury.

Yesterday, Queensland beat the Blues in a round game which was a lot less intense than today’s final promises to be.

The final round game in senior men between Queensland and New South Wales was only for bragging rights as both teams had already qualified for the final.

The Maroons finished 22-20 in front which gives them a lot of hope today against the defending champions from New South Wales.

Captain Cameron Shepherd from the Warwick club is playing well for a Queensland side which is strong across all seven players.

During the championships, Shepherd has predominately been playing No.1 in the same chukka as Tansey star Justin Hafey who has mainly been the No.3 in a team which comes on in the second chukka for Queensland.

The other team members are John Bowling, Trent Collins, Beau Moore, Tom O’Neill and Andrew Phillips.

On Saturday, the Queensland under-21 mixed team beat New South Wales 23-22 in the final to become the first Queensland winners at the nationals.

The winning team included Warwick player Kelsey Rowland and Anthony O’Leary from the Cunningham club. Grace Young lives at Clifton and plays for the Chinchilla club and was also in the team of eight.

Queensland went down in the final of the masters mixed with team members including Killarney player Gail Donnelly and Jody Ezzy from Cunningham.

Daniel Cooper (Cunningham) and Callum Brook (Warwick) were part of the Queensland team which went down 27-21 to New South Wales in the junior boys final yesterday.

The carnival finishes today with more finals.
