Shooting action hots up at range
If you want to try a different sport, the Warwick Pistol Club is ready and willing to welcome you each Thursday night or weekend.
The club holds an air pistol shoot at 7pm each Thursday and shoots alternatively on Saturdays and Sundays each weekend.
Each year, the club holds two major shoots, one in February and one in October which is dubbed the Warwick Pistol Club Rose and Rodeo Shoot.
This year, the February shoot attracted 70 shooters from as far away as Cunnamulla, Tamworth and Mackay for a three-day event.
Tom Fulton (Brisbane), John Lisiewicz (Mackay) and Marie Kent (Brisbane) who shot the 50m black powder at Warwick make up the team which will represent the state at the nationals in Adelaide at Easter.
They will also be part of the state team in several other events including air pistol, centre fire, sport pistol and standard pistol.
Fulton showed he was in top form for the nationals with win at 50m and 25m black powder, he won the same event in 2012.
Bob Campbell from Warwick won three events with Max Constable, Ross Dossetto and Greg Morris on top of the scores in two classes.
Warwick members Trevor Gordon, Nigel Gordon, Mark Constable, Janelle Constable, Joan Bott and Julia Gow each recorded one class win.
Campbell is club captain and said there was a significant increase in numbers in the service pistol matches at the February shoot.
"We had better numbers in service pistol than at a shoot at Belmont in Brisbane two weeks earlier," he said.
Belmont is the range used for the 1982 Commonwealth Games and work is currently being undertaken at the facility for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
See regular shooting results in All Sorts of Sports on a Wednesday.
