YOUR SAY: Shop around for your bargain
WHERE you shop can make all the difference in your grocery bill, according to savvy local shoppers.
Warwick everyday grocery shoppers have taken to Facebook to share their tips on busting the costs of the weekly food shop.
Daily News reader Lisa Brown said the tip to saving money was to prepare meal plans, write a list and stick to it.
"Shop at butchers and farmers' markets," she wrote.
"If you have freezer space, buy milk, bread and meat in bulk to save running to the shop every few days."
There was one supermarket chain in particular readers suggested as a major cost saver - Aldi.
Sandra Freeman-Smith said she shops at Aldi to save money on groceries.
"Only buy what you need," she wrote.
"Have home-cooked meals."
Other smart shoppers suggested buying from multiple places where food is on special.
"Buy only specials from each supermarket," Jen Odp wrote.
"Plan meals ahead, browsing through the catalogues."
The big tip from Daily News reader Sonya Gillespie was to stop buying "stuff you don't need".
"People seem to stock their trolleys with chocolate and soft drink - things we can all do without," she wrote.
