Show competitor turns into showgirl hopeful

THE first time Brooke Wilson entered the Warwick show arena to compete in hacking she was just three years old and laughed the whole way through.

Miss Wilson said it was her first time off the lead and she forgot to turn left, sending her into a fit of giggles.

Now 17, the Warwick teenager is about to tick off another first at the show by competing in the Warwick Teen Showgirl competition.

Miss Wilson said she had been to every Warwick Show since she was two years old.

"There's a lot of love about the show, whether it's the rides or the pottery there's always something to look at,” she said.

"Whether it's drought or floods have gone through, the show has always been there to have community time.”

Miss Wilson has come a long way since her first competition mishap.

She has placed in the top 20 in the state championships for dressage.

Graduating from Scots PGC College last year, Miss Wilson is taking a year off to work at Crisps Coaches before starting a veterinary science degree at James Cook University in Townsville.

The Warwick Teen Showgirl champion will be announced on March 17.
