Show of support for Cody
DONATIONS from across the country have flooded in to help 16-year-old Warwick boy Cody McKavanagh get back on his feet after he was robbed of all his possessions.
Cody moved to Brisbane after he was offered a job with renowned chef Matt Moran at his restaurant, Aria, but when he came home to his Newmarket apartment on June 10, there was an empty shell.
His television, x-box, clothes, trophies and laptops had all been stolen, and for a young boy living in the city on an apprentice chef's wage it was a massive kick in the guts.
Cody's stepmother, Karen McKavanagh, said she was thrilled with the support from not only the Warwick community, but from as far away as Tasmania.
"We're up to about $1000 of donations from the public," Mrs McKavanagh said.
"The Killarney Cutters donated $200 and other people dropped in money and somebody from Townsville even posted us a cheque.
"And a lady in Tasmania phoned up and she was part of a food group on Facebook, so now they're trying to organise something to help Cody too," she said.
A raffle is still running at Warwick Screenprinting and Embroidery and will be drawn this Saturday. Prizes include a Shane Webcke signed fine bottle of rum, and MP3 player and a hip flask.
