Showbags are not our of style

AFTER 45 years of selling showbags around the state, Tony and Jan Spinks have seen it all.

The Redlands-based couple are among the travelling show folk at the Allora Show weekend, selling a large selection of showbags.

Mrs Spinks said despite technology, showbags remained very popular.

"They're what a lot of people come to the shows for," she said.

"The parents have great memories of shows, and now the kids are getting into the swing of it."

From chocolate bags starting at $3, to toy bags with all the family favourites at $26, kids definitely aren't spoiled for choice.

In their time travelling from show to show, the Spinks have seen many changes around the countless showgrounds they have visited.

Mrs Spinks said the biggest changes she had seen were in the prices.

"Some things at shows change, some stay basically the same," she said.

"There's better quality items in the showbags these days

"The food is definitely changing - there's more good, nice food."

With their show season kicking off at Stanthorpe last weekend, the couple have a busy schedule up until their last show at Pine Rivers in September.

"We'll do about 24 shows this year," Mrs Spinks said.

"As well as a few festivals."

In all of their travels, Mrs Spinks said the best part was meeting new people and seeing different places.

"Kids remember us and we remember them," she said.

"We've watched people grow up, and their kids grow up."

The showbags are expected to be big sellers as people flock to the show for tonight's big night of entertainment.

The action kicks off with the Dirt Squirt Bikes at 6pm.
