Showers and cool days ahead

AFTER a wet weekend the Rose City could be a given a slight reprieve with rain and storms due to ease this afternoon.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Michael Knepp said we could see some early rain today but the afternoon would bring only isolated showers.

"By Tuesday there might be some afternoon showers and thunderstorms and it will be similar for Wednesday, but it will be nothing like we have seen over the weekend," Mr Knepp said.

He said while the next few days would be fairly warm with a top of 27 degrees, the end of the week would see a change.

"Then we will see it dropping a few degrees," Mr Knepp said.

"Wednesday will be a bit cooler than normal for this time of year at about 23 degrees. That's about six degrees below normal."

Mr Knepp said despite the widespread weekend storms, which included a non-event severe thunderstorm warning, Warwick only received 8.2mm of rain, while places further afield had higher rainfall.

Outlook

Today, tomorrow and Wednesday: Maximum of 27 with thunderstorms clearing to possible showers.

Thursday and Friday: Maximum of 23 with possible showers.
