Showing compassion

IT IS devastating to hear of the ongoing battle of Deuchar's Donna A'Court, who has just lost her husband only one month after her house was destroyed in a brutal fire.

I can't imagine how it must feel to have the anguish of losing your home and your possessions in such a way, only to have the pain compounded immeasurably by the loss of your life partner.

Of course, the only good thing to come out of the story is the generosity the community has shown to the Deuchar couple since the fire.

It is in times like this in small communities that strangers become friends and friends become family.

Generosity and kindness are things we do well here in the Southern Downs and I hope others can offer some assistance to our neighbour in her painful plight.

If you can help Donna, please call Elizabeth on 0412 356 564.
