Sign-on day big event for club

HANNAH Wallace lists bars and floor as her favourite apparatus as she approaches her second year at the Warwick Gymnastics Club.

This week, she was one of the participants in the holiday activity program in the gym hall in Easey St.

The 11-year-old from Killarney is going into year 7 at her local state school next week but that won't stop her competing in her favourite sport, gymnastics.

Hannah also competes in swimming, netball and touch.

She joined up in the first half of last year and attended the club holiday activity program in the 2011 winter school holidays.

"I learnt heaps of new things this week," Hannah said.

After only half a year in the sport, Hannah is making a mark in the sport as she is already up to level two.

Gymnastics club boys' coach Petra Kuziw said the club had decided to have a holiday program in each of the four holidays annually.

"They had a taste of all apparatus and even made up the rules for their own mini dance competitions," Kuziw said.

With the fun of the holiday program over, the club is now focusing on its sign-on day on January 28 from 9am to noon at the gym hall.

The first day is free.

As well as training, members are involved in two Warwick competitions each year and events at other clubs.
