Sign up now for Super-8s cricket

CRICKET: It's not too late to sign up for the Stanthorpe Cricket Super-8s Day.

The fun day will take place at Stanthorpe's McGlew St sporting complex next Saturday, January 28.

Groups of eight players can nominate by phoning Stanthorpe Cricket president Luke Brady on 0427 177 649.

Brady said the day was designed for non-cricketers and they hoped for 12-14 teams.

There will be no regular senior cricket games that day.

In the senior competition, Valleys and Tenterfield won their games against Wanderers and Souths last Saturday.

Valleys captain Damian Anderson said they bowled Wanderers out for 71 in the first innings.

"All of the bowlers got a couple of wickets each,” Anderson said.

Anderson said the win had put them in good stead.

"It was an important win,” he said.

Anderson said they had a strong effort from all players on the day.

For Wanderers, Adrian Hill and John Dixon have jointly taken over the captaincy from Jamie Carnell.

Hill said it was a disappointing game and hoped they would secure more wins in the coming weeks. He said Jamie Carnell stood out when he took up the bat.

Hill said a rib injury had seen his own efforts falter, and he wasn't likely to play this Saturday.
