Sinkins gets hat-trick, Wolves win
RICKY Sinkins netted a hat-trick in the Warwicks Premier Football side’s first win of the season at the weekend.
Coach Gary Dargan was pleased to get the first win out of the road and hopes this opens the floodgates for a very successful season.
The Toowoomba Wanderers side came out strong and managed to find the back of the net in the first 20 minutes, making the Wolves work to keep them under control.
Sinkins managed to score his first goal of the day with about 10 minutes remaining in the first half and Warwick went into the break 3-1 down. The Wolves kept their opponents scoreless in the second half, with Sam Benz scoring early and Sinkins following with two spectacular goals in near succession towards the end of the game.
THE Warwick ladies travelled to West Wanderers on Sunday to play Wanderers at 1pm but unfortunately were a bit short on numbers with just 10 players turning up to play.
The girls fought hard all game, with Catie Harrison having a strong game in centre back and Shandelle Doro impressing up front. In just her third game as keeper, Alice Morrisey played extremely well with a couple of one-on-one saves.
Wanderers won the game 3-0 but it was a great effort from the girls.
THE Colts played out an exciting 4-4 draw with Garden City Gold. Chris Leach opened the scoring for Warwick after some good passing, but Warwick then made two blunders in defence to trail 2-1.
Garden City scored a strong goal, but Warwick came back just before half time to make it 3-2 at the break.
Warwick played the stronger of the two teams in the first part of the second half and equalised with Leach completing a hat-trick.
Garden City came back and scored a very good goal to take the lead, but Warwick equalised with just minutes to go with Jake Reid finding the net after an excellent throw-in from Martin Johnson.
