Sisterhood of the travelling markets
WHEREVER you'll find Narelle Donald and her hand made jewellery, you'll be sure to find Gail Grunske's wearable felted art designs not far behind.
The two have travelled across Queensland, setting up their stalls side by side at festivals and markets for the past ten years.
Both following their passion for art, set up their first stalls at Crows Nest and hit it off straight away.
"I love everything Narelle does, her pieces are amazing and I love being set up next to her, it doesn't make it feel like work at all, just two friends together,” Ms Grunske said.
"She has a batty sense of style and humour just like me, I couldn't imagine having my stall be next to anyone else,” Ms Donald said.
Their colourful garments and accessories catch people's attention, but it's their playful banter and uplifting persona's that keep people from walking away.
Today they brought their stalls to the Warwick Art Gallery to be among the hustle and bustle of the Jumpers and Jazz festival.
For the past five years the two have set up shop for Jumpers and Jazz and said it was their favourite festival to work at.
"We love coming here to Warwick for Jumpers and Jazz, everything is unique, colourful and quirky, just like us,” Ms Donald said.
"Everything about the atmosphere is amazing, the trees, the jazz, the colours, it's all amazing,” Ms Grunske said.
Each year the crotchet master pieces inspire the stall owners to create extraordinary pieces.
"I bring out some of my bigger statement jewellery for Jumpers and Jazz, the crowds seem to go for the balder pieces,” Ms Donald said.
"We learn lot's of things during the festival getting to meet other designers and artist,” Ms Grunske said.
Visiting festivals across the state the two said nothing compares to Warwick's Jumpers and Jazz in July.
