Six cylinders fire at Warwick Drags for Six-Banger Nationals
DRAG RACING: Gates open at 9am today and tomorrow for the Six-Banger Nationals at Warwick Dragway this weekend.
The special six-cylinder event tomorrow will be run in conjunction with a bracket meeting of more than 100 entries competing.
Michelle Lynch is driving up from Sydney in her entry car, Dorris the Morris, for the weekend event.
Dorris the Morris has become somewhat of a character of the Warwick Drags in her third year of competition.
The purple beast even has its own Facebook page detailing their adventures at drag strips up and down the east coast of Australia.
Michelle said she will be arriving with a few friends in tow to take part in the weekend of camping and racing.
"We love coming up to Warwick for the drags, it's a great event," Michelle said.
"It's a fantastic weekend run by some great people.
"It's always a very friendly and laid back event, a lot different to most of the events we usually go to."
Previously Dorris the Morris has had some mechanical issues but Michelle's partner Scott will be on hand to get her back on the track.
"Scott builds the cars so, if anything goes wrong, he can fix her up and keep us going," she said.
Michelle enjoys the camping aspect of the drags and loves talking with other competitors about their love of cars.
The six-banger event will be held tomorrow for six-cylinder cars while the bracket meeting will take place today.
Entry for spectators costs $10 a day, with children under 12 free.
