The sky is the limit for Lucy in state netball mission

NETBALL: Clifton Year 7 student Lucy Mantova was recently selected in the Darling Downs 12-years schoolgirls team to contest the Queensland State Primary School Netball Championships in Emerald on June 21-24.

Lucy has competed with her team in lead-up carnivals before the state championships over the past two weekends.

Last weekend, her Darling Downs team placed equal first at the Underwood Park Representative Netball Carnival in the 12-years Division One competition in Brisbane.

Lucy's team won their games against Redlands 24-18, Tweed Heads 24-16 and Underwood Park 24-12 while they drew with Metropolitan West 21-all.

As both teams were on equal first points, the goals scored for and against were tallied and the Darling Downs team was named runners-up on a goal countback.

The previous weekend, Lucy and her team won four games and lost two at the Southport Carrara Representative Netball Carnival on the Gold Coast.

Lucy, who plays goal keeper and goal shooter, has been attending training with her team at Nell E. Robinson Park in Toowoomba each Friday afternoon in the lead up to the state competition.
