Slashers a good bet

FOUR members of the Langham Slashers Golf Club will look like the perfect team following the sponsorship of team shirts by Gosia and Ben Everton, of the Warwick TAB.

Club captain Doug Macbeth said the Langham Slashers play nine holes of golf each Sunday from 7am.

“The shirts have been sponsored by Warwick TAB for us to play in charity ambrose events on a Sunday at the Warwick Golf Club,” Macbeth said.

“About half our Langham Slashers members play in some of the charity days.”

Club numbers have gone up from 25 to 30 since a story on the Langham Slashers in the Daily News late last year attracted more interest in the club.

“We are hoping for some new members of the club this year,” Macbeth said.

“Our nine holes are finished by 9am each Sunday and we have presentations about 9.30am.”

Club president Gary Teunis said by playing early on a Sunday, members had the rest of the day for family time or to do whatever they wanted.

A team from the Langham Slashers was runners up in the annual Angel Flight Charity Day a fortnight ago, the biggest day of the year so far at the Warwick Golf Club.

Prospective members welcome to call Macbeth on 4661 8650 or 0429 120424 or at the Warwick Golf Club early on a Sunday.
