Woman finds smashing way to get arrested outside station

SMASHING a vehicle parked on the street isn't a great idea at the best of times, let alone when the car is parked outside a police station.

But that's the situation that presented itself to Goondiwindi police last Wednesday when a 38-year-old woman was found allegedly damaging a vehicle on Herbert St.

Police allege the woman resisted arrest and obstructed officers after they were forced to intervene outside the police station.

She was charged with public nuisance, wilful damage and obstruct/resist police and is due to face Goondiwindi Magistrates Court on Wednesday, December 9.

A 19-year-old Goondiwindi man who police allege was also involved in the incident is due to appear in court on the same day after he was charged with public nuisance.

Meanwhile, police from the Goondiwindi Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at an address in Moffatt St, Goondiwindi on Wednesday last week.

Police located a quantity of cannabis and spoke with a 20-year-old man at the address.

The man was charged and released on drug diversion.

Goondiwindi detectives executed another search warrant on an address in Strafford St, Goondiwindi on Friday last week.

Police located drug utensils and spoke with a 62-year-old man from the address.

Police will allege the man had possession of drug utensils and was subsequently charged.

The man will face Goondiwindi Magistrates Court on January 20 next year in relation to the matter.
