Snap and clap for Legally Blonde

I THOUGHT Lucy Durack was born to play Glinda in Wicked.

I've changed my mind.

She was born to play Elle Woods in Legally Blonde The Musical.

The show opened at Sydney's Lyric Theatre tonight and Durack's stand-out performance as the sorority girl turned Harvard law student earned a standing ovation from the star-studded crowd.

Celebrities in attendance included Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Matt Lee, Erik Thomson, Josh Horner, Reece Mastin, Dan Ewing, Abe Forsyth, Nancye Hayes, Melinda Schneider, Pauline Curuenavuli and David Campbell.

Durack shared great on-stage chemistry with co-star Rob Mills in the laugh-out-loud adaptation of the 2001 movie starring Reese Witherspoon.

I prefer the musical to the movie. It's cheekier, fast paced and the music is just plain fun.

David Harris is lovable as the rumpled but sincere Emmett and Helen Dallimore rocks her leopard-print stockings in the
"bend and snap" as salon owner Paulette.

The physicality of Erika Heynatz's skip rope number is a show stopper and the former model has excellent comic timing.

Legally Blonde is a fun, glittering night out. Put on your best pink frock, get together with the girls and go see Legally Blonde.
