Socceroos ranked 44th in world, 3rd in Asia

THE Socceroos have jumped three spots in the latest FIFA rankings, moving up to 44th in the world.

Despite not playing a competitive fixture since November, when they secured drew 2-2 away with Thailand, the Socceroos have moved above Serbia, Japan and Denmark.

The latest rankings have Australia third in Asia overall, with only Iran (29th) and Korea Republic (36th) leading the Socceroos.

Argentina has maintained its spot at the top of the rankings, leading Brazil and Germany.

1 Argentina, 2 Brazil, 3 Germany, 4 Chile, 5 Belgium, 6 Colombia, 7 France, 8 Portugal, 9 Uruguay, 10 Spain.

The Socceroos are next back in action in March, when the current round of World Cup qualifiers for Russia 2018 continues.
