Allora service station break-in

SOFTDRINK and fuel were stolen from a storeroom at an Allora service station in one of two break-and-enters in the town early yesterday morning.

Allora Police Senior Constable Gavin McLucas said officers had been called to the Freedom Fuels service station on the New England Highway at 4.45am.

“The manager arrived to open up and discovered a person or persons had broken into the storage room,” Snr Constable McLucas said.

“A quantity of soft drink along with diesel, oil and fuel containers were taken from the premises.”

He said the break-in had occurred between the service station's close of business at 8pm on Monday and 4.30am yesterday.

Allora police believe the service station break-in is tied to a second fuel theft attempt in the Central Downs township.

“We also received reports of a resident disturbing two males trying to siphon fuel from a ute in South Street,” Snr Constable McLucas said.

“The ute was located just a block from the service station and the incident happened about 2am.

“So we have reason to believe they are connected.”

He said investigations into the two incidents were continuing.

“Freedom Fuels are doing a stock take now so they can provide us with a full list and value of the stolen items,” Snr Constable McLucas said.

Meanwhile he advised Allora residents to ensure vehicles and property were kept locked and secure.
