Solar Choice to shine in today's Killarney Cup

AFTER she set a new record in her last run at Allman Park, it is no surprise the owners and trainers of Solar Choice are confident of a win in today's Killarney Cup.

Solar Choice won by three lengths at the Warwick Picnic Races and after a positive run on the Gold Coast last week, co-owner and trainer Les Clarke said he was confident Solar Choice could be first past the post today.

"I think she (Solar Choice) is looking good," Clarke said.

"She had a start at the Gold Coast last week to fitten her up for this race and she came sixth, three lengths short of the winner.

"Her last start in Warwick was at the Picnic Races and she won by about three lengths, breaking the track record in the process."

Boosting Clarke's hopes are also the return of jockey Faith Elliott, as well as a similar field to the one that ran in the Picnic Races.

"She (Faith) rode to our instructions perfectly last time.

"She's keen to ride again.

"She (Solar Choice) is up against the same sort of class she beat last time so we're fairly confident she can win again."

Fellow trainer, and brother of Les, Stephen Clarke said it would be nice to see a local horse take out the cup.

"It would be great to see a horse from Killarney take it out," Clarke said.

"I also have Mr Goodlooking, another horse I train here, running so it would be great to see either of them win.

"Faith (Elliott) will be riding both of them."
