Solid support for young cattle at Warwick sale

NUMBERS reduced by 14% and a fair panel of buyers was present and operating at the Warwick Cattle Sale yesterday.

  Feeder operators, restockers and the trade provided very solid support across all classes of young cattle and apart from a few selling to a higher level the remainder experienced very little change in price.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export slaughter received strong demand from processors and cows followed a similar trend.

Calves returning to the paddock made to 364.2c to average 324c/kg.  

Vealer steers to restockers averaged 352c, with the occasional outstanding vealer steer selling to a high of 451.2c/kg.

  Vealer heifers to feed averaged 312c, with isolated sales to 349.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers made to 357.2c, with most sales in the 340c/kg range.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged in the early 340c range, with the occasional B muscle class with show ring potential reaching 449.6c/kg.

Heavy weights to feed averaged 334c and made to 342.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers generally sold from 302c to 310c, with some to 330.2c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 311c and local trade lines averaged 319c and made to 326.2c/kg.

  Heavy steers made to 314.2c and bullocks reached 312.2c to average 309c/kg.  

Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 218c and made to 229.2c/kg.

Good heavy cows averaged 260c and made to 269.2c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 284.2c/kg.
