Solicitor returns with eye on future

AT AGE 27, it's safe to say Rebecca Lancaster has her life pretty well sorted.

A supportive partner, two gorgeous children, her dream home and to top it off, she has just taken over as principal at Maxwell & Lancaster Solicitors.

Having lived in Brisbane for a few years, working and studying, Ms Lancaster said she was happier than ever to be back in her home town.

"I never thought I would end up back here in Warwick, but I'm really glad I am," Ms Lancaster said.

"I feel so lucky that everything has fallen into place."

Ms Lancaster moved back to Warwick in 2010 and worked for Neil Maxwell before taking the reins.

"I made an appointment with him and told him I wanted to discuss buying the practice," she said.

"It was a big commitment to uproot my family from the city, but it worked out really well."

She officially took over on February 1 this year.

Ms Lancaster was enthusiastic about the future of the firm and said it was "business as usual".

"It's just a change of name and letterhead and we have a new solicitor too," she said.

Mr Maxwell still works at the firm and Ms Lancaster said she was lucky to have him as a mentor.

"Neil has a very deep knowledge base, so it's not often we come across a situation he hasn't dealt with before so I feel very fortunate to have learnt what I have from him," she said.

With a young team at the helm, Maxwell & Lancaster Solicitors is here for the long haul.

"The fact that we have few younger solicitors in town, and now we can provide that here, it means that people in Warwick are more likely to access local legal advice for longer," Ms Lancaster said.

"I love it; it's so nice to be able to deal with people personally. You just don't get that in Brisbane."
