Solomon Islands hit by magnitude 6.2 earthquake

A MAGNITUDE 6.2 earthquake hit the Solomon Islands at 11:52am AEST today according to Geoscience Australia. 

The quake struck at a depth of 60km below the surface on Bougainville Island north-west of Kieta.
