Southern Downs a region of champions

WE SURE know how to do things big here on the Southern Downs.

Throughout today's paper we have myriad stories highlighting the great people, products and lifestlye we have here in the region.

Warwick's own Maydan Feedlot and John Dee abattoir have both been recognised for their involvement in the production of what has been dubbed the world's best steak.

This is a truly amazing honour for those involved and really highlights the importance and value of our local producers and processors.

Also highlighted in today's paper is the fact the Killarney Hotel will also feature in the upcoming TV series Wanted, which is being filmed across the region as we speak.

I'm sure Killarney residents were thrilled to have Rebecca Gibney and the rest of the Wanted crew visiting their town today and it is great to see one of our wonderful little communities in the spotlight.

How about the elderly man who is still competing in campdrafting at this year's rodeo?

Michael Boyce has been competing at the Warwick Rodeo for the past 50 years and despite being in his late 70s, isn't giving up his spot in the arena.

What a champion.

Best of luck with the competition, Michael.

Show them how it's done.
