SOUTHERN Downs MP Lawrence Springborg has congratulated 23 organisations in his electorate that have been granted nearly half a million dollars in funding from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Mr Springborg said $498,194.72 had been allocated to projects in the regions, including $162,435.84 around Warwick.
The grants include $34,979.20 for Freestone Memorial Hall upgrades, $25,000 for upgrades at the Killarney and District Hack and Pony Club and $31,454.55 for a new amenities block for the Killarney Show and Rodeo Society.
Other grants allocated include $3698 to the Killarney and District Historical Society, $24,175 to the Leyburn P&C, $4200 to YMCA for WIRAC equipment and $12,500 to Warwick Pentath-run for equipment.
"These grants will be of great benefit to our local community organisations who work extremely hard to provide services and add to the enhancement of our district," Mr Springborg said.
