Southern Downs count set to finish tonight

COUNTING in the Warwick Town Hall tally room is set to wrap up later tonight, officially ending the contentious Southern Downs election.

Tracy Dobie will serve as mayor with incumbents Jo McNally, Vic Pennisi and Cameron Gow returning for second terms.

Yve Stocks, Sheryl Windle and Marika McNichol will also join the new-look Southern Downs council.

Candidates with the highest number of votes Rod Kelly and Jo McNally are tipped to have the best chance of becoming Deputy Mayor.

Councillors will vote in the deputy at the first statutory meeting of council, the date of which will be finalised following the declaration of the poll at the closure of the tally room.
