Southern Downs police give chase, man arrested

A 21-YEAR-old man has been arrested after a brush with Southern Downs police.

At 2.30pm yesterday police pulled the man over in Ellwood Road, Applethorpe for a roadside drug test.

The man allegedly fled the scene after police report they identified him as being wanted on seven outstanding warrants, as well as a further nine burglary and dishonesty offences committed primarily on the Gold Coast.

After a short chase, the man was caught and arrested and cuffed for resisting police.

The man was transported to Warwick watchhouse and is expected to be charged with the outstanding offences.
