Southern Downs scouts fly to Jamboree

SCOUTS from Warwick and Stanthorpe have flown out from Wellcamp Airport to attend the AJ2016 Jamboree in Sydney.

The scouts joined peers from Millmerran, Dalby and Toowoomba at the airport on Saturday.

23 scouts and one scout leader were among the group, joining 12,000 scouts and 2000 scout leaders from across the country at the event.

The Jamboree runs for ten days, with a focus on fun, adventure and making new friends.

A coach load of Toowoomba scots are also headed for the event.

Assistant Region Commissioner Barry Keleher says that the current very wet conditions in the Sydney area mean that the scouts at the 24th Australian Jamboree are having to deal with extremely wet and muddy conditions during the first week of the Jamboree.

The theme for the Jamboree is 'Leap into Adventure".
