Southern Downs teams go down

REPLACEMENT centre Jesse McIvor was best back and players’ player but it wasn’t enough for Warwick to beat Gatton in yesterday’s Toowoomba Rugby League A-grade game at Cahill Park.

McIvor was a late replacement for Warwick representative centre Scott Kerridge who had the flu.

Gatton led 10-6 at halftime and won 20-10.

Hooker Aaron McVeigh continued his great form winning the Cowboys best forward award.

Ryan McIvor and Hayden McNicol scored tries and Garth Miller landed one goal for Warwick.

Gatton halves Jamie Dodt and Matthew Rose were two of the best for the home side.

Warwick lost 28-10 in reserve grade and drew 24-all in the under-18 game.

In C-grade, Warwick went down 28-24.
