Show time just around the corner on the Southern Downs
IT'S less than two weeks until the first carnies and competitors fill up our showgrounds.
The Queensland show season officially kicks off with Stanthorpe Show next weekend.
The show will be opened this year by Miss Queensland Showgirl Michelle Mesner.
While Stanthorpe shows off its best, Allora residents will be busily preparing for their time in the spotlight.
The Allora Show kicks off on Friday, February 5.

Allora Show Society president Shirley Cornhill said entries were flowing in.
"There will be a bull ride on the Friday night, with fireworks and the smash-up derby on Saturday," she said.
For the dairy exhibitors there's a bit of bad news, with the dairy cattle cancelled.
"We'll still have the stud beef and led steer classes," Mrs Cornhill said.
The Show Society is hopeful a run of good weather will boost entries.
After Allora, the show circuit moves 20 minutes down the road to Clifton from February 12 to 14.
This year's Clifton Show will take on special significance, marking 10 years since the town's Guinness World Record for the longest road train.
To celebrate there will be a special truck show.
Programs for the shows are available at www.allora show.org.au and www.clifton showsociety.com.
The Killarney Show is on February 19 to 21, and the Warwick Show on March 18 to 20.
