Speeds reduced on Cunningham Highway after truck fire
MOTORISTS have been advised that speeds will be reduced on the Cunningham Highway at Coolmunda for the next 24 hours after a truck fire last night.
The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads have stated that lanes in both directions are affected, with speeds reduced to 60km/h, after a diesel spill about 20km east of Inglewood.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to the scene just before 10pm yesterday where a prime mover had been engulfed by flames.
A QFES spokeswoman said crews contained the fire by about 11pm and it had been extinguished about half an hour later.
The Cunningham Highway was initially closed but has since been reopened with reduced speed limits being enforced.
The driver had managed to get out of the prime mover, which was carrying batteries.
Paramedics were on scene last night but were not required to provide medical treatment.
