Speedsters irk public

JUNABEE Rd residents have complained of speedsters driving past their homes.

Warwick traffic branch officers were nabbing lead-foots from a Grafton St vantage point yesterday and one traffic officer said it was because residents were sick of people disobeying the rules.

The officer said the speed limit changed from 80km to 60km 300m before Brook St and Australian laws allowed a 300m slowing period before it was deemed illegal.

"The thing is Brook St (which is just before the bridge) is at the 300m mark, so people aren't slowing (to 60km) until then," he said.

"People need to observe the 60 signs."

The northern entry of Warwick often catches motorists off guard when it changes from 80km to 60km, and police urged all to pay extra attention on the roads and to be considerate of neighbouring properties.
