Club vice-president Wayne Pfingst said the group was praised for its effort.

In a new move this year, each driver was given a souvenir of participation.

"When the competitors finished their last runs

on the Sunday afternoon they were presented with

a medallion just for finishing the event,” Pfingst said.

"We even towed one car over the line so he could get his medallion.

"You need to give the competitors back some- thing and they can say they've been there and done that.”

Pfingst said 11 drivers made the trip from Manly- Waringah Sporting Car

Club in Sydney.

This sparked an idea for a state-of-origin competition, which could be added to the program next year.

Pfingst said it was just

a proposal at that stage,

but it could involve a shoot-out on the Saturday followed by a function that night.

"We'll pick maybe 20 cars from each state and they'll compete against each other,” he said.

The stakes would be high, with Pfingst saying the losing state had to drink their opponent's beer.

That would be Toohey's for the Queensland team and XXXX for those from New South Wales.

Pfingst said the interstate visitors dubbed the meeting one of the best they' had been to.

"There was a lot of friendly camaraderie between all the people and there was a nice, relaxed atmosphere everywhere,”

he said.
