Top weekend of racing at Morgan Park Raceway

MOTOR RACING: The B-series of the Queensland Super Sprints gets under way at Morgan Park Raceway today.

This weekend is the first round of the season, with all four rounds being held at Morgan Park.

Warwick District Sporting Car Club president Bill Campbell said it would be a top weekend of racing.

"The super sprints will see a mixture of cars such as Fords, Holdens, Datsuns and open-wheelers," Campbell said.

"The racing will be of a very high standard.

"It should be a really good weekend."

Campbell said the rain would not stop any racing.

"The rain won't affect the racing," he said.

"It's just like driving on the road. You just need to drive to the conditions.

"If you drive to the conditions, you should be all good."

Campbell said there would be a strong contingent of drivers.

"There will be about 130 entrants and the quality of drivers will be really good," he said.

"We've got drivers from all over south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales and there will be a mixture of drivers in terms of age."

Racing is from 8am-5pm today and 8am-2pm tomorrow with free admission.
