Sprinters claim team silver
LIBBY Brown, Jacob Lawrence, Anthony Bannister and Jack Wild are the first state medallists at the Warwick Little Athletics Centre for the 2011-2012 season.
They won silver in the under-17 medley relay at the state relays late last year.
Anthony and Libby ran the 200m with Jack running the 400m leg and Jacob the anchor leg over 800m.
The Warwick team was in the top-three throughout the race.
Anthony put Warwick in the placings early before Libby took the baton. She was the only girl in the relay and ran an outstanding second leg before Jack Wild kept Warwick in third place.
Jacob improved one position in his leg for the team to win silver.
Centre co-ordinator Paul Bannister said Warwick athletes were close to medals in other relays.
"We made a presentation to Jacob on Saturday to assist him on his development trip to New Zealand later this month," Paul said.
The Darling Downs Regional Championships will be held in Toowoomba on February 4-5, which doubles as qualification for the state championships at the State Athletics Centre in Brisbane on March 24-25.
Warwick little athletics has resumed after the Christmas break and has seven more Saturday morning competitions during the second half of the season.
