Sprinters to make a splash at WIRAC on Sunday

SWIMMING: Warwick Swimming Club has attracted 130 swimmers to the McNamara Sprints on Sunday.

The sprints meeting is the biggest each year for the club.

There will be 38 Warwick Swimming Club members in action as 13 clubs head to WIRAC for the meet.

There are 19 swimmers from Inglewood, 15 from Glennie (in Toowoomba) and 12 from Toowoomba Grammar club.

Other clubs in action include Stanthorpe, Killarney, Fairholme, Toowoomba Flyers, Algester, Turbo Jets, Narrabri, Somerville and Palm Beach Currumbin.

The longest events on the event program are the 200m individual medley for boys and girls.

Warwick club captains Caitlin Skaines and Will Gilmore will be two of the best chances to win the two skins swims at lunch time.

The skins will start with 10 swimmers in 50m freestyle races, with two being eliminated in each heat before the final four go for the prizemoney.

Warwick swimmers attended their regular Friday club night and there will be many new faces in the 38 nominees from the host club.

Warwick Swimming Club official Kylie White said 12 new families with swimmers had joined the club this season.

"We had 30 children at our first Friday night swim for the season,” she said.

Warm-up starts at 8am Sunday, with first race to start at 9am Sunday.

Admission is free for swimmers. There will be a $2 charge for spectators.

Next Friday, the weekly club night will not be held, due to the Warwick Rodeo.
