Squatter nabbed by police

A STANTHORPE man wanted by police on several charges was found squatting in a vacant house on Monday night.

The 25-year-old broke into the Clarke St dwelling and after neighbouring residents reported movement in the house to police, they arrived on scene at 8.30pm.

A police spokesman said the man was found hiding in a cupboard.

He was charged for entering the dwelling along with outstanding charges which included possession of dangerous drugs, breach of a domestic violence order, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and common assault.

The man was remanded in custody and then released on strict bail conditions.

The man is due to face Stanthorpe Magistrates Court in July.

Report criminal or suspicious activity to police.
