OPINION: Stamping out hatred
I AM extremely proud of reporter Jayden Brown for sharing his experiences with homophobia (page 4).
REPORTER SHARES HIS PERSONAL STORY OF HOMOPHOBIA
Speaking about the mistreatment he has endured as a gay man, and recounting being called a "faggot" mustn't have been easy.
It is hard to imagine not only what it is like to be on the receiving end of such despicable abuse but also to imagine what would possess you to perpetrate such hatred.

It highlights the absurdity and idiocy of homophobia.
To hate someone, or treat them negatively for the person they are - for their race, sexual orientation, gender - makes as much sense as hating them for writing with their left hand.
But the fact 30% of our teenage boys would not want a gay person in their friend circle shows that homophobia is prevalent in our society.
Come on Warwick, we can do better than this. We are better than this.
Our kids should be learning that hatred - in any form - is never OK.
