Drug bust a boost for police

STANTHORPE Police say they are continuing to proactively target drug offenders after the discovery in the last week of what they called a “substantial quantity of drugs” at one local address.

Senior Sergeant Mark Ireland said during a search of a premises in Aplin St police uncovered approximately 1.2 kilograms of dried cannabis as well as associated smoking utensils and drug paraphernalia.

“The occupants of the residence are yet to be interviewed regarding the matter however police expect to charge offenders over coming days,” Snr Sgt Ireland said.

“Another search, conducted in Lane Street, located drug implements, a small quantity of cannabis and two cannabis plants.

“A 32-year-old man has been charged with a variety of drug offences.

“Two further addresses in Lock Street and Harris Street also resulted in quantities of cannabis and drug implements being located.

“A 43-year-old woman and a 22-year-old male will appear in Stanthorpe Court charged with possessing dangerous drugs.”
