Stanthorpe swimmers succeed at Pittsworth carnival

STANTHORPE swimmers have put on a good show at the Pittsworth Swimming Carnival.

Stanthorpe Swimming Club president Shannon Armbruster said seven swimmers from the club represented the region at the carnival, near Toowoomba, at the weekend.

She said this included several who were at their first carnival like it.

"We had seven swimmers there," Armbruster said.

"It was great because a couple of them hadn't been to a carnival for a while so to see them succeed was fantastic."

She said Aliesha Rogers was age championship for 11 years and Ben Armbruster, who has now secured his sixth year in a row at the Darling Downs Trials, was a big success in the 14 year boys.

She said it was the first Pittsworth carnival for Hannah McMeniman and Brooke O'Brien.

Armbruster said 11 Stanthorpe Swimming Club members would travel to the Darling Downs trials tomorrow.

The primary and secondary Queensland School Sports swimming championships will take place in late March.
