State championship success for BBB members

THE Queensland Orienteering Championships in the Amiens State Forest at the weekend attracted more than 170 competitors.

Bullecourt Boulder Bounders club member Simeon Burrill went up an age group to win the men's 21A class.

He scored a convincing win in the Saturday event to set up a lead in the battle for the overall trophy in his class.

Despite spraining his ankle on the course on Sunday, he maintained the overall lead to win another state championship by a seven-minute margin.

BBB club secretary Anne Wilson won the Saturday event and was fourth overall in the W55A class in one of the best performances of her career.

Club member Jaiden Fidge played an AFL final in Toowoomba on Saturday morning before winning the M16A class.

Competitors came from New Zealand, Great Britain, Sweden, Russia and most Australian states. The Amiens State School P and C catered for the event.
