State pulls out all of its funding
SOUTHERN Downs Industry Education Association has asked the Southern Downs Regional Council for assistance after the State Government pulled funding.
The council will discuss the request during the general meeting on Wednesday.
Director of Community Services Tony Minuti said the council had received a letter from the SDIEA requesting "urgent" support.
"Due to significant changes to the funding of youth services by the State Government, SDIEA has lost all of its State Government funding," he said.
Funding for the Get Set For Work project and Youth Support Coordinators Program have been cut.
The group asked the council to lobby for the continuation of the projects - and if necessary provide funding to the SDIEA.
Mr Minuti has recommended the council write to the Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg and advise that council cannot provide financial assistance.
SDIEA will be able to make an application for financial assistance under the grants program in the next budget.
