State hockey win to Warwick over 35 men
HOCKEY: Warwick has won the over 35 years state championships in hockey at Rockhampton.
Former Brisbane Player of the Year and long-time Corinthians player Adam Byrne organised a Warwick team which also included a guest player from the Northern Rivers, Olympian Grant Smith.
The Warwick team included a lot of players who made state teams as juniors, others played in the national league and some are now making Queensland and Australian teams at masters level.
One of the stars of the weekend was Allora resident Matt Hagenbach who is regarded as one of the best strikers to play Warwick hockey.
Warwick won all its games in Rockhampton and scored 12 goals and only conceded two.
