UPDATE: Queensland Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk has been meeting with business owners in the Maryborough central business district on Friday and giving out food to volunteers working hard to restore businesses.

"I didn't realise so much of the city was underwater," she said.

Her Brisbane office held a collection to buy goods from a Maryborough bakery to hand out to volunteers.

She was in Maryborough until lunchtime.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell joined Ms Palaszczuk to listen to business owners and volunteers.

Local Government Minister David Crisafulli and Treasurer Tim Nicholls were also in Maryborough earlier this week.

EARLIER: State Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk is in Maryborough on Friday to survey flood damage and visit flood victims.

One of the places she was scheduled to visit is the evacuation centre at the Brolga Theatre at 11am.
