State shoot promises double the thrills
DAN Johnson and Danny Green will head the Warwick Clay Target Club contingent competing in the Queensland Clay Target Association International Sporting Shooters Federation double trap championships at the range in Rosenthal Rd.
Johnson is a state champion in Olympic trap and Green is the incoming club president.
There are 30 nominations for the state double trap championships in which each shoot will aim to hit 75 pairs of targets.
Johnson said two targets would be released simultaneously and there were points for each target shot.
"The total score will be out of 150, the top six will shoot a further 25-pair in the final," he said.
The first shooters will be on the range at 9am with six shooters in each squad for 25 pairs at a time.
Some club members will help out at the shoot as volunteers.
One shooter will travel from Scone in New South Wales but the majority will be from south-east Queensland.
Double trap is a discipline which has been made famous by Olympic gold medallists Russell Mark and Michael Diamond.
Members of the public welcome to watch the action from the clubhouse.
Free admission for spectators with the canteen open. The estimated start for the final is 2pm.
